If you're looking for a good sign, we've got one for you. Head over to the corner of 5th Avenue and Olentangy. Just above the filling station there, you'll see our message to Columbus:
Keep our public schools and government free from religion
VOTE.
Freedom From Religion Foundation HQ helped us paint that little bit of the sky with this most rational call to action. It's a real conversation starter, so we encourage you to start having conversations.
This is the 2nd billboard campaign our Central Ohio Freedom From Religion Foundation chapter has successfully placed. The first defended women's reproductive healthcare. Placed on Hudson Street, it read Abort Theocracy: Keep Abortion Safe & Legal (more info: Hudson Street billboard defends safe abortion (columbusfreepress.org)).
We're proud of both of these campaigns and we hope you are, as well.
👉 The best way to support initiatives like these is to join Freedom From Religion Foundation.

If your mailbox is overflowing with political flyers and postcards, you certainly aren't alone. To find out who or what paid for it, and what or who else they're bankrolling, use this easy, free tool created by Popular Information, an independent investigative news outlet. https://popular.info
Here's how Popular Information describes it:
Political mail is the darkest corner of American political advertising. It can be micro-targeted and receives almost no media attention. This tool gives you immediate, unprecedented insight into who is sending you mail.
It's simple. Photograph your mail. If your material involves a federal race, the app will immediately give you detailed information about who is paying for it. For state and local races, a Popular Information journalist will review your submission.
I tried it myself with a flyer I got in the mail; the results are next to this text in a screenshot.
(Side note: you don't have to dig very far to learn that the Super PAC which paid for this particular mailer, Enough Promises Ohio, is linked to the MAGA movement, and not to the candidate the flyer promotes. AXIOS Cleveland reports on it here: Axios Cleveland: report on a super PAC’s mailers in an Ohio Senate race
Visit https://paidforby.info to try it out yourself.
COFFRF shares this tool and any linked news coverage for information only. We do not endorse or oppose any candidate, political party, or ballot issue, and linking to a story or tool is not an endorsement of the people or groups it covers.
Join us on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2-4:30pm at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Whetstone Branch. Light appetizers will be provided while we connect with each other.
We're also excited to welcome DJ Byrnes of The Rooster as our special guest speaker.
🐓 The Rooster is the largest independently owned media operation in Ohio politics.
The Rooster has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, Chapo Trap House, Perez Hilton, Wall Street Journal, Columbus Monthly, and Columbus Dispatch, among other prestigious publications and outlets.
We're looking for someone to make sure our chapter has an attractive and accessible web presence. You'd help revamp and maintain our website, migrating it away from Google Sites and onto another user-friendly platform and hosting service. You'd recommend a more robust and scalable email management platform, and make it easier for us to get the word out about who we are and what we do.
If that's you, contact us.
